Her first phone call, following news of his death, was to her mother; her second was to her older sister. Soon, however, Shayanna received phone calls from Hernandez; he instructed her to go retrieve a box from the basement and dispose of it. He didn’t tell her what was in it, she claims, and she didn’t carefully look.
